Why We're Doing This!

In a world where hunger is rising, where families must choose between eating nutritious food and paying their rent, we aim to inspire dialogue & forge communities that struggle to change the social, ecological, & economic disparities that create wealth for a few, and hunger for millions. We are privileged to be able to think, act, and blog about nutrition & food justice. And we hope & struggle for a time when we are not a privileged minority.

At a certain a point, eating nutritious, ancestral foods like whole grain cereals, legumes, fruits, vegetables, & nuts became a complicated, industrialized agricultural business, paying slave wages, destroying the environment, and starving low-income communities. Eating well became (or has always been) a practice and privilege of the wealthy in the US. But eating whole foods is a human right, and was so commonplace to our ancestors, that we deserve to reclaim our indigenous ways of eating.

This blog in no way attempts to simplify the complexities mentioned above. What we attempt to simplify is the act of purchasing affordable whole foods & preparing them communally with love, for the holistic health of ourselves & our communities.
