Hello!
Okay, Sammy's mamma sent us this LA Times article about how when you massage your kale with olive oil (or any kind of oil really), you soften the bitter taste of raw kale and the toughness of the leaves.
This made me excited, and it's really easy:
Next time you have a bundle of any kind of kale (dino, curly, etc):
1. Pour a quarter sized amount of olive oil on your hands and massage the whole leaves of kale, just like you were giving someone a hand massage.
2. When you've given a thorough massage (20 seconds per bunch of leaves or so), tear or chop the whole leaves of the kale into salad-friendly bites.
4. Throw it all in the boat, aka a bowl, with some salt & pepper and sunflower seeds (or seeds of your choosing). Make sure there's the right amount of olive oil for your dressing-tastes.
5. Voila! You have a delicious, nutritious, raw kale salad!
