Raw Vegan Cleanse (Prep)

Tomorrow is Day One of Sirena's raw vegan cleanse. But the first two days for us will just be cooked vegan -- then two days raw vegan -- then two days juice and smoothies -- then one day raw/cooked vegan.

To prep, tonight I am making daal (went to India Sweets and Spices on Venice Blvd in Culver City and got Daal Masala and some great daals), with white jasmine rice, and beet greens and rainbow chard sautéed with scallions and garlic in olive and sesame oil. Simple but delicious, and I'm loving the new flavor of the daal.

Sofia will be at a workshop all day so this is for her lunch, and we'll see how present she can be in the cleanse...and whether coffee is out or not! I stopped drinking coffee two days ago to prep, and today went without caffeinated tea. Maybe that's why I feel so whack! Going to try to cut out added sugars too.

I don't feel totally prepared for this as I have a lot on my plate. But hosting a raw vegan potluck on Wednesday night I think will help me feel in community with this cleanse. Will sorely miss Tannia and Ceci who did it with us last time, and glad Monely will be back in time to cleanse with us!!
